Selkie cross stitch pattern

7.00

Beautiful and mysterious, Selkies are the shape shifting seal folk from Scottish and Irish folklore.

Description

Selkies are mythical beings from Scottish, Irish, and Faroese folklore who live as seals in the sea but can shed their skins to become human on land. A common motif in folk tales involves a human stealing a selkie’s seal skin, preventing their return to the sea and forcing them into marriage. If the selkie later finds the hidden skin, they return to the ocean, often leaving behind spouses and children.
